Bagalkot: Shurpali villagers in Karnataka’s Bagalkot district braved floods and incessant rains to hoist the Indian national flag.
Villagers rang in India’s 73rd Independence Day by hoisting the Indian tricolour using rafts to wade through floodwaters.
The flag was hoisted with utmost respect at three places in the village including a village panchayat, a government school and a location near a youth organization office in Jamakhandi taluk of Bagalkot. Many villagers unfurled the tricolour while standing in knee-deep water.
