Himanta Biswa Sarma, education minister of Assam, said that the state has decided to close down state-run Madrasas and Sanskrit tols or centres of learning. They would be converted into regular schools providing regular education. The primary intent of both these orders is to ensure that no student should be deprived of general education due to over indulgence in religious learning. There have been allegations galore that several private Madrasas have been imparting radical thoughts to children of a very young age. Also there are Madrasas that are funded by terror outfits such as the Lashkar-e-Tayiba which only teach children on how to hate India and the Hindus.
