For over 100 years, these 3 Karwar wells have never gone dry; continue to solve water woes

Karwar: Even when the entire village of Baithakola, Karwar, Karnataka, is facing drought and all wells go dry, three wells of Gowdawada in Baithakola have been quenching the thirst of people for over a century. The wells belonging to Vighneshwar Gowda, Sudhakar Gowda and Kumar Gowda are said to be built at least hundred years ago and have never gone dry since then. Baithakola has people from seven communities and during summer, all families queue up in front of these wells and fill their buckets with water for domestic use. Hundreds of buckets of water are being taken from these wells every day. The Gowda family has never refused to give water to any family in Gowdawada and consider this as a service and do not charge the people for it. Residents say that they have never brought the water from tankers, but necessarily come to these three wells and take the water home.
