Bengaluru: The citizens of the village of Dodduru, Lakshmeshwara taluk of Gadag, Karnataka, are in a lot of trouble. That is because they endure a painful 4-km walk in order to exercise their franchise. Well, even after 71 years since Independence, this small hamlet doesn’t have a polling booth.

The village has a population of 1,500, out of which 450 have voter ID cards. It’s not that the people of this village have not complained to the authorities concerned, but the authorities have not solved their problems yet.

The village begs basic infrastructure. From transportation to medical facilities, everything needs an overhaul. So now, upset over the shabby situation, the people of the region are threatening not to vote.

The present MLA from the region is Ramanna Lamani of the BJP. They have expressed their disappointment to him as well. But nothing has fructified. Even the district administration has become a toothless tiger in this regard.
