DMK member kills brother over property dispute in Thoothukudi

Thoothukudi: 'Billa' Jegan, who is a youth wing organiser of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi south district, killed his brother over a property dispute. Jegan shot his brother dead.

The Tuticorin Police are now on the lookout for the accused who is a strong supporter of Tiruchendur MLA Anitha R Radhakrishna.

The police stated that as per preliminary investigations, Jegan and his brother, Simanji had been arguing about property which once again erupted on Monday night.

The argument went out of control and Jegan shot at Simanji's thigh, stated the police.

Simanji became unconscious and died due to excessive bleeding. His body was then taken to Thoothukudi Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Police are also investigating if the gun was licensed. With the Model Code of Conduct in place, all licensed guns should have also been surrendered.
