Dharwad: The death toll in Dharwad building collapse in Karnataka has reached 15 after the NDRF and the SDRF team have recovered the 15th body.
The teams also managed to rescue two more persons, which took the number of survivors so far to 61. However, students who had come to a cyber centre in the same building, are feared trapped.
Three children are also feared trapped, officials say their cries can be heard.
After being trapped in the debris for more than 62 hours, victim Dilip was rescued alive by the fire personnel this morning, DG, Karnataka Fire Services, tweeted.
Officials stated that the extreme heat at the crash site hindered operations. Water cannons had to be used to settle dust generated from digging.
The operations are likely to conclude in the next two days. Deputy commissioner Deepa Cholan announced that a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each would be given to the family of those who died.
