Bengaluru: Celebrities from Sandalwood, dignitaries from political parties, students and people from all walks of life celebrated international day of yoga by practicing asanas. Former Prime Minister, JD(S) chief Deve Gowda, who is 86-years-old, performed yoga on this day. Deve Gowda is an ardent practitioner of yoga since decades. Likewise, a mass yoga programme was conducted by health and family welfare department in association with AYUSH department at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Thousands of people took part in the event in Bengaluru along with deputy chief minister G Parameshwara and health minister Shivananda S Patil. Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy gave the event a miss as he is busy with 'grama vastavya' (village stay) and is at Chandaragi in Yadgir district. Actress Kaavya Sha too took part in the event. She is being trained under 65-year-old yoga guru from Bengaluru. Another mass event was held at Manek Shaw Parade Ground in Bengaluru. Around 8000 NCC cadets participated in this event. BJP leaders BS Yeddyurappa, Malavika Avinash and others too practiced yoga on the occasion.
