Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in different parts of Kerala on Tuesday. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) said that wind speed would be 40-50 kmph and could reach up to 60 kmph. Cyclone Fani is likely to intensify into “very severe cyclonic storm”.
The SDMA also has issued a yellow alert in Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Idukki. The IMD has advised fishermen of Kerala and Kanyakumari to refrain from venturing into the sea.
