Narayanpet (Telangana): Residents from Kandukur of Andhra Pradesh celebrated Nagula Panchami by worshipping scorpions and allowing them to crawl over their bodies.
They celebrated Nagula Panchami in the form of 'Teella Panchami' on August 5. On this special day, Kandukur residents visited the nearby Kondamadugu hills in Telangana and offered prayers to the idol of Scorpion God, situated on the top of the hill.
They also believe that the poisonous insect does not bite them as they worship it during the festival. The devotees, both men and women, can be seen catching scorpions with their bare hands and playing with them and even wear the scorpions on their bodies and display it to others by placing on their face, eyes, and even on the tongue.
