Andhra Pradesh: Vijayawada’s Prakasam barrage opened; 1,200 people moved to relief camps

Vijayawada: On Thursday (August 15), 72 gates of Prakasam barrage in Andhra Pradesh were opened to release 4.5 lakh cusecs of water to the Bay of Bengal. After this, several low-lying areas in Vijayawada were submerged in water. Schools in Vijayawada were converted into relief camps.

Low-lying areas such as Balaji Nagar, Rama Lingeswarapeta and many other areas are affected due to floods. More than 1,200 people are taking shelter in seven municipal schools in Vijayawada.
