The Ministry of External Affairs has clarified that the lotus, which is being printed on new passports, is part of the enhanced security feature to identify fake passports. The MEA added that other national symbols will also be used on rotation. But this issue of printing India’s national flower has sparked a fresh row, with the opposition demanding an immediate withdrawal of passports with the lotus emblem.
