A Mumbai restaurant's pink tandoori chicken has gone viral, sparking mixed reactions online. Inspired by the Barbie craze, it features beetroot mixed with curd, drawing both humor and criticism.

In a recent viral trend, a Mumbai restaurant has captured attention with its unique take on tandoori chicken, which is slathered in a striking pink sauce. This quirky dish gained immense popularity after an Instagram food account shared a video showcasing the vibrant creation, racking up over 37,000 likes. However, not everyone was a fan; many commenters joked about its gimmicky appearance.

One of the most viral comments dubbed the dish “Barbie-q chicken,” a playful nod to the pink craze surrounding Greta Gerwig’s 2023 film, *Barbie*. Other users chimed in with humorous takes, suggesting that the chicken might be infused with “Gelusil syrup,” referencing a well-known pink antacid, or even “solkadhi wala chicken,” inspired by a pink drink made from coconut milk and kokum.

While the exact ingredients remained a mystery, a commenter speculated that beetroot mixed with curd might be the source of the pink hue. The food account responded with hearts, confirming this as the likely answer.

Despite its viral fame, reactions varied, with some users expressing shock and others claiming the dish made them “physically sick.” One user summed up the sentiment by questioning, “The question isn’t about which color is added. The question is why?”

This isn’t the first time pink has made its way into unusual dishes. Earlier this year, Mumbai baker Heena Kausar Raad also went viral for creating pink biryani for a Barbie-themed party, showcasing her creativity with other pink side dishes.

In a world where viral food trends often capture our imagination, the pink tandoori chicken certainly adds a splash of color to culinary creativity, even if it’s met with mixed reactions!
