On July 27, a video emerged showing an elderly passenger on the Vande Bharat train angrily slapping a waiter after mistakenly consuming a non-vegetarian meal. The incident, which was widely shared on X, has drawn widespread condemnation and debate.

According to the videos, the elderly passenger, who is known to be a strict vegetarian, was served a non-vegetarian meal due to a mix-up. The videos quickly went viral, with many expressing outrage over the incident. Some users labeled the elderly man's actions as assault and called for legal repercussions. “It is assault. One comment said, "The person needs to be booked." Others pointed out the contradiction in the passenger's actions, emphasizing that vegetarianism is fundamentally about non-violence. "Hitting people is actually a violation of non-violence, which is the whole point of vegetarianism," said a different user.

The debate extended to calls for action against both parties involved. Suggestions ranged from punishing the elderly man for his aggression to holding the catering staff accountable for the meal mix-up. "Railway should also have a passenger blocking system like aviation," was one suggestion made in the comments.

The incident has sparked a broader discussion on customer service, dietary preferences, and how to handle mistakes in public settings. Social media users remain divided, with some condemning the elderly man's behavior while others criticize the service provided by the catering staff. The controversy highlights the need for better communication and handling of dietary requirements in service industries.
