California: MDH brand will withdraw its sambar masala from stores as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) detected salmonella bacteria in the samples.
The MDH company will withdraw at least three lots of product, reports claim. MDH Masala is manufactured by R Pure Agro Specialities and distributed by the House Of Spices (India).
A statement was released stating that the recalled MDH sambar masala was distributed in northern California retail stores.
In fact distributors of MDH Masala, the House Of Spices, stated that consumers, who had purchased 100g of MDH Sambar Masala, had returned them demanding full refund.
Consumption of salmonella can lead to salmonellosis, that is one of the bacterial foodborne illnesses. This can result in diarrohea, abdominal cramps, and fever.
Salmonellosis can bother the person for a week. Though other problems caused by it can be cured with time and without treatment, severe diarrohea will need hospitalisation.
