The initiative gained attention after photos and videos of their efforts went viral online, sparking both praise for the locals' initiative and criticism of the civic authorities for their apparent negligence. According to reports, BBMP cited insufficient funds as the reason for their inability to maintain the roads properly, prompting the community to take action independently.

In response to mounting pressure, including intervention from Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar following public outcry, BBMP dispatched a cleaning machine to address the issue. Similar grievances have been voiced in Doddakalasandra, where locals expressed frustration over neglected road conditions despite numerous complaints to BBMP, BWSSB, and local representatives. The situation worsened due to substandard materials used in previous repair attempts, causing the road surface to degrade quickly under normal traffic and weather conditions.
Residents, including tech professionals who contribute to the city's economy during weekdays, are dedicating their weekends to filling potholes and clearing debris from the roads.
