Food safety concerns have surged recently, with numerous reports of illness linked to major restaurants and poor hygiene practices. In response, the Food Safety Task Force in Telangana conducted a series of inspections in Hyderabad, uncovering serious breaches in food safety protocols. Their findings have raised significant alarm, revealing troubling issues such as rat infestations and the use of expired ingredients.
Among the establishments scrutinized was Yes 'Bawarchi Multi Cuisine Restaurant' in Shamshabad. The inspection team discovered rat droppings on both racks and floors, suggesting a rodent problem. Other violations included missing FSSAI certificates, substandard drinking water, and the presence of synthetic food colors. Additionally, semi-prepared and raw food items were found inadequately labeled and uncovered, and the restaurant's windows lacked insect-proof screens.

'Hotel Hyderabad Grand' also faced severe criticism. Inspectors found expired food items, such as red chili sauce and coconut milk, and identified labeling errors with products like dust tea and BBQ sauce. The restaurant was fined for these infractions, and several food handlers were lacking medical fitness certificates. Furthermore, the establishment failed to prominently display a valid FSSAI license.

The revelations shocked social media users, with many praising the Food Safety Department's efforts but also calling for stricter enforcement and heavier penalties. Some expressed frustration, arguing that without regular inspections and substantial fines, violators would continue to flout safety standards.
