While addressing a public gathering, AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said that he was critical of the current poll dilemma faced by the Muslim community
Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and Chandrayangutta MLA, Akbaruddin Owaisi has said that the Muslim community is facing a dilemma ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections.
Owaisi said if the party supports any of the two dominant parties (BJP and Congress) at the Centre, then they could be labelled as “anti-national or secular”.
“If we support the Congress then we are secular. If we oppose them, we become friends of Modi. Likewise, if we oppose Modi, then we are anti-nationals. This is the dilemma faced by the Muslims who have been treated as second-grade citizens,” Owaisi said while addressing a crowd at a public meeting in Mohammed Nagar, Hyderabad.
On the party’s position for the upcoming Telangana elections, he said that they are “now in a position to fight either Pappu or Feku”.
Owaisi said if the Congress president Rahul Gandhi claims to be secular then he should visit Darussalam like his grandmother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He said that whichever party comes to power in Telangana will have to take support from AIMIM and criticised the two-party concept.
According to Owaisi, the two-party concept does not favour the Muslims. Promising jobs to people if elected, he said that so far no alliance or associations have been decided by AIMIM.
Commenting on the December 7 polls, he said that the party could be considered as the ‘third force’ representing the Muslim community.
