Though netizens are already aware of QR scans being introduced on Facebook and Instagram, several people were shocked to know that WhatsApp too, would add the feature
New Delhi: WhatsApp is likely to introduce QR Code feature that enables the users to add contacts on the instant messaging app. Though WhatsApp introduced the QR Code feature in 2018, the feature was not displayed in the app, thus leaving people with no idea of QR Code on WhatsApp.
In a tweet, WABetaInfo said the application would be enabled with a QR Code shortcut feature in the coming days.
In a tweet, WABetaInfo said, "In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.189 update, WhatsApp is working on a QR Code shortcut (it's not visible yet). The feature will be (obviously, you know ??) enabled in future."
Though the Facebook-owned Instagram already has the feature of QR Code which involves nametags, WhatsApp would be taken a step further towards blending WhatsApp and Instagram.
A unique QR code would be provided to every WhatsApp account where the messaging app users need to scan the QR Code of other users, and those users would be added to their WhatsApp contacts list immediately. This feature will enable users to add contacts on their WhatsApp quickly. If the users are unhappy with the QR Code, they can disable the feature on their WhatsApp settings.
Presently, WhatsApp Web allows their app users to scan a QR Code to use the messaging app on their desktop instead of using it on their phone.
