In the 16th over of the final Group B match at the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2018 in Guyana on Saturday, Australia fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck took a stunning one-handed blinder to dismiss Veda Krishnamurthy for just three runs.

While Krishnamurthy slammed a powerful hook shot off the short-pitched delivery by spinner Ashleigh Gardner, Vlaeminck stationed at the backward square leg, jumped backwards and stuck out her right hand to pluck the ball in mid-air. The reflexive catch by the T20I debutant was indeed a moment of brilliance.

Later, as Alyssa Healy and Megan Schutt were involved in a nasty collision while attempting a catch in the 19th over of the Indian innings, Australia faced a major setback.

Again, India’s Radha Yadav took a diving catch in her own over to dismiss Delissa Kimmince, and displayed another sight of brilliance. Radha ran backwards and timed her dive to take a stunning catch of the tossed delivery from the off-spinner which was smashed across the line by Kimmince.

Three-time champions Australia were defeated by the “Women in blue” by 48 runs and sealed the top spot in Group B. India will next face either West Indies or England in the semi-final on Thursday, led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Australia are also in the last-four phase.
