Nagpur: India's veteran opening batsman Wasim Jaffer proved that age is just a number as he smashed a double hundred for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Uttarakhand on Thursday.
Jaffer, who will turn 41 on February 16, hit a superb 206 in his 251st first-class match. En route to his knock, he crossed 19,000 runs in his first-class career.
The right-handed batsman faced 296 balls for his 206 and hit 26 boundaries. Thanks to his innings and 141 from Sanjay Ramaswamy, Vidarbha took the first innings lead on the third day of the match. They were 559/6 at stumps. Earlier Uttarakhand had made 355.

He played 19 seasons for Mumbai before moving to Vidarbha in 2015. So far, he has scored 57 first-class hundreds.
Jaffer has the fifth most runs in first-class cricket history in India behind Sunil Gavaskar (25,834), Sachin Tendulkar (25,396), Rahul Dravid (23,794) and VVS Laxman (19,730).
