New York: Serena Williams set the Flushing Meadows on fire after her spectacular win on Monday over Magda Linette at the US Open. With this dominating win, Serena has started her campaign to win a record-equalling 24 Grand Slam titles. She blew away Linette 6-4, 6-0.

Serena had missed the last edition of the US Open after giving birth to daughter Olympia on September 1 last year.

"The first set was tight. It was my first back here in New York, so that wasn't the easiest," Williams said. "Once I got settled, I started doing what I'm trying to do in practice."

Williams, a six-time winner at the Flushing Meadows, moved a step closer to a possible third-round matchup against her older sister, two-time winner Venus, who defeated 2004 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Serena faces Germany's Carina Witthoeft next.

Serena is looking to match Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 major titles.
