Some quick thinking from Swiss master Roger Federer helped him return Nick Kyrgios' blistering shots
New York: Tennis legend Roger Federer beat Nick Kyrgios 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 to reach the US Open round of 16 on Saturday, September 1.
Some quick thinking from the Swiss master helped him return Kyrgios' blistering shots, including one where Federer's forehand flicked around the net post.
"Definitely a bit of luck and good feet," Agence France-Presse quoted Federer as saying about the shot.
"He's an unbelievable frontrunner. When he gets in front, there's not much you can do," said Kyrgios, seemingly in awe of Federer's capabilities.
Federer will now face Australian John Millman, who reached the last 16 of a major tournament for the first time. He beat Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 to reach the round of 16.
If Federer beats Millman, he could face-off against Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic beat Richard Gasquet 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 to enter the round of 16.
