After Rahul's dismissal, Twitterati blasted the opening batsman for his poor choice of shot and lauded him for his 'consistency'
Sydney: KL Rahul, who was included in the Indian team for the Sydney Test instead of Rohit Sharma, failed once again. The Indian opener was dismissed for only nine runs on the opening day at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Thursday.
Rahul went with hard hands and could only get the outside edge which was caught by Shaun Marsh at first slip off Josh Hazlewood.
During this whole series, Rahul's form has been disappointing, and the experts have raised serious questions about his place in the team.
Murali Vijay and Rahul were not included in the team for the third Test in Melbourne due to poor form. But before the fourth Test, Rohit had to return home on the occasion of his daughter's birth. Rahul was included in the team, and he was given the responsibility to open the innings. He has scored just 57 runs in five innings so far.

Oh what a start for the Aussies! The seam position on this from Josh Hazlewood 👌👌 | pic.twitter.com/0j237UD9i9
— cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau)He hasn't been able to hit the ground running and has lacked confidence in his batting approach. The right-hander has thus far failed on the tour of Australia. Rahul had tough going against the incoming ball and was dismissed via Leg Before Wicket and bowled on most of the occasions.
Well-known cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle wrote on Twitter, "Realistically, the only other option for India was to play Hardik Pandya for KL Rahul and leave Vihari to open. But India don't seem able to pick either Pandya or Bhuvi."
After the Perth Test, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar had said that Rahul should go to India and play domestic cricket.
After Rahul's dismissal, Twitterati blasted the opening batsman for his poor choice of shot and lauded him for his 'consistency'.

— Buzz In The Town (@Buzzinthetown)Year changed, partner changed, pitch changed, but the scorecard of KL Rahul doesn't. Flopshow.

— Stfu_1@ (@Stfu110)The worst thing that can happen now to KL Rahul is watching the ODIs in Australia and New Zealand from the bench. With Karnataka all but likely to make the Ranji knockouts, his inclusion could be mutually beneficial.
