The tweet came after left-handed batsman Gambhir criticised Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Committee of Administrators (CoA) over their zero-tolerance policy for corruption

Tainted former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has come back hard at batsman Gautam Gambhir for slamming him over ringing the bell at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata recently during the India-West Indies T20I.

A strange tweet was posted, and later deleted, from Azhar’s official Twitter handle which read, “Azhar is a great cricketer and in the eyes of law he is not guilty too. Gambhir just to please a particular party don't say anything to a veteran cricketer. U also know that as a cricketer he is even better than u. To soch samjahkar tweet karein (think, understand before you tweet) (sic).”

India may have won today at Eden but I am sorry , CoA &CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! I know he was allowed to contest HCA polls but then this is shocking....The bell is ringing, hope the powers that be are listening. pic.twitter.com/0HKbp2Bs9r

Gambhir's tweet read, “India may have won today at Eden but I am sorry @bcci, CoA &CAB lost. Looks like the No Tolerance Policy against Corrupt takes a leave on Sundays! Gambhir was lashed out by fans, earlier this year, for his double standards, as the cricketer himself had shared the stage with Azhar for a cricket show three years back, where they also shared a laugh.

After former India all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar was shortlisted for Delhi coach’s job, Gambhir seemed to be unhappy. Virender Sehwag, one of the members of the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association’s (DDCA) Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), didn’t like some of the questions that Gambhir had posed for Prabhakar.

Also, the DDCA was forced to replace Ajay Jadeja with Vijay Dahiya after Gambhir made it clear that he won’t play if the former remained the coach.
