Spanish football club Real Madrid officially launched its third kit after a dummy run in a 2016-17 La Liga game.

The European champions unveiled their team’s third kit which is made from recycled ocean plastic, for the 2018-19 season, on Monday, in New York.

The coral alternate stripes kit was released as a part of the club’s pre-season tour in United States of America.

Real’s latest shirts are made of recycled plastic from oceans thanks to a partnership between Parley For The Ocean and kit suppliers Adidas.

Parley For The Ocean welcomed and implemented strategy to get rid of ocean plastics rendering to plastic pollution, which is a serious hazard to our Mother Earth.

The various shades of coral colours of the jerseys indicate their unified motive to spread awareness all over the world. They did not forget to bring to our attention the fact that the depleting corals of the oceans require our protection as well.

Marcelo, Lucas Vazquez, Karim Benzema, Nacho were handpicked to represent the kit.

Real sported the Parley Ocean plastic shirts in the match against Sporting Gijon, on 26 November 2016.

It is worth recalling that Barcelona club had also worn recycled jerseys during the last season. Also German giants Bayern Munich wore an Adidas-Parley kit in a match against Hoffenheim, last November.

The founder of Parley For The Ocean, Cyrill Gutsch has expressed his gratitude and ecstasy on having Real as a motivation for their ambition.

He commented, “Real Madrid has the power to amplify our message, to share it with their massive global following and to bring it to life with their own decisions and actions.”

“The message is an urgent one. It addresses the survival of four oceans, of our own species. It addresses the massive problem of marine plastic pollution. It questions the material itself and defines plastic as a prime example of toxic substance which we can’t afford anymore,” Gutsch added.

The new jerseys will be seen for the first time in a match on Tuesday night (7 August), against AS Roma, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
