'Yes, (Vinod) Rai, Anirudh (Chaudhry), (Aditya) Verma deposed before the panel. Amitabh (acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary) couldn’t make it because he is busy with personal issues. It’s not known why CK (Khanna) decided to give the deposition a miss,” a senior BCCI official said

New Delhi: The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai, Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry and other top officials deposed before the probe panel investigating the alleged sexual harassment case against Indian cricket board CEO Rahul Johri.

COA member Diana Edulji and IPL petitioner Aditya Verma also appeared before the committee. All of them appeared separately, according to PTI.

“Yes, Rai, Anirudh, Verma deposed before the panel. Amitabh (acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary) couldn’t make it because he is busy with personal issues. It’s not known why CK (Khanna) decided to give the deposition a miss,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on Monday.

The probe panel comprises former Allahabad High Court judge Justice Rakesh Sharma, former Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Barkha Singh and lawyer Veena Gowda.

As the probe panel gathered information from Indian cricket's top officials, a section of BCCI questioned Rai and Edulji's roles as they will be the ones who will receive the report from the three-member committee on November 15.

“Isn’t it weird that Mr Rai formed the panel and the investigation report will be submitted to him only. Also people like Hemang Amin, Saba Karim should have also been summoned for deposition,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Johri was accused of sexual harassment in an anonymous social media post, which has since been deleted. He has denied the allegation in response to the show cause notice issued by the COA.
