Paris: Karim Benzema, on Wednesday, slammed the French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet and asked to “forget” him.

The Real Madrid striker tweeted in French, which translated to English, reads, “Mr. Graët, I ask you to forget me and leave me alone please. France is champion of the world and there is the essential, the rest is futility. Thank you. # LeGraet  # CaSuffit  # GiveMeABreak (sic).”

Monsieur Le Graët, je vous demande de m’oublier et de me laisser tranquille svp. La France est championne du monde et là est l’essentiel, le reste n’est que futilité. Merci.

Le Graet had said that Benzema’s era in the French national football team was over. In an interview with a French newspaper, he said that Benzema’s time “was over”.

Despite not getting selected for the World Cup 2018 in Russia, Benzema treasures 21 goals and 81 caps for France. He is being disregarded due to his alleged role in the blackmail of fellow international Mathieu Valbuena. Benzema has not played for France since 2015.

“I have nothing against Karim,” said Le Graet. “He has always carried himself well in the French team, but I think Les Bleus are over for him, especially since he may be less fit than before.”

Benzema is awaiting the verdict from a Paris court with regard to his case of the long-running Valbuena “sex-tape” affair.
