Visakhapatnam: India's vice-captain Rohit Sharma is on the cusp of breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record. The Mumbai right-hander is hit away from matching the Master Blaster.

The 31-year-old Rohit, considering the form he is in, could go past the batting legend in Wednesday's second ODI against the West Indies.

In five-match series opener in Guwahati, Rohit blasted a 117-ball 152 not out with 15 fours and eight sixes to steer India to a comfortable eight-wicket victory. Skipper Virat Kohli too was in top form, scoring 140 in the 323-run chase.

Rohit and Kohli added 246 runs for the second wicket after the early fall of Shikhar Dhawan (4) in the second over.

Now, Rohit is set to surpass Tendulkar in the list of most ODI sixes list. Tendulkar, during his illustrious career, hit 195 sixes in a world record 463 ODIs.

Rohit has so far hit 194 sixes in 189 50-over internationals. He is currently at the eighth position in all-time list, headed by Pakistan's Shahid Afridi (351 sixes from 398 ODIs).

Among Indians, the record holder is Mahendra Singh Dhoni with 217 hits over the fence.
