Rajkot: Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets as India bundled out West Indies for 181 in 48 overs on the third day of the first Test here on Saturday.
The hosts took a mammoth 468-run lead and enforced the follow-on in the morning session. The visitors had started the day at 94/6.
All the five bowlers of India had success, with Ashwin being the pick of the bowlers with 4/37 in 11 overs. Mohammed Shami took two while Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav had one victim each.
Roston Chase was the top-scorer for the Windies with 53 while Keemo Paul made 47.
On Friday, India had declared on a record 649/9 after centuries by Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
It was India's highest total in a Test match against the West Indies, with Jadeja (100 not out) reaching his maiden hundred after Kohli departed for 139, his 24th Test century. The 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw had scored 134 on debut on the opening day.
In the West Indies's reply, Kraigg Brathwaite (two) and Kieran Powell (one) fell to Mohammad Shami within the first five overs before India's spinners took over.
Ashwin bowled Shai Hope for 10, Jadeja had Sunil Ambris (12) caught at slip in his first over, and Kuldeep Yadav bowled Shane Dowrich (10). In between those wickets, Shimron Hetmyer was run out for 10 after a mix-up with Ambris.
This is a two-match series with the second and final Test in Hyderabad from October 12.
