Cricket is a gentleman's game, but there are several incidents which tarnish its image.

In a highly charged-up Test between India and England at Trent Bridge last week, captain Virat Kohli not only ensured that his team won the match but also stood up for his team-mates, as he always does.

Fast bowler Stuart Broad got the dose of Kohli’s treatment when he came to bat in the second innings. This was after the paceman had given a send-off to debutant Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

Pant made an impressive start, first with the bat and later behind the stumps. When Broad dismissed the 20-year-old left-hander for 24 in the first innings, the Englishman had few words to say to the youngster as he made his way back to the pavilion.

Kohli and his team-mates did not forget the incident. And when Broad came into bat in the second innings, with defeating looming large, he received lip service from Kohli, who was standing in the slips. He was also targetted with short balls.

"It is aggressive,” said Broad to Kohli. For that, the skipper hit back, “That's what you get (bouncers and words) for having a go at the youngster (pointing at Pant)".

Then again, Broad went on, “It is Test cricket, it will be aggressive.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Broad 15% of his match fee for his send-off to Pant.

The fourth Test between the sides starts in Southampton on August 30. The five-match rubber stands at 2-1 in favour of the hosts.
