Hardik Pandya went to the caretaker desk of the hotel and handed over a packet of food to a staff member, asking him to give it to someone who needs it as this food wasn’t touched by them while dining
When all-rounder Hardik Pandya made his international cricket debut, he was compared by many to the legendary Kapil Dev. While Pandya still has a long way to go to live up to that, his one kind gesture in England has surely won many hearts.
India lost the first Test to England by 31 runs in Birmingham. Pandya's performance was below average. He failed to pick any wicket and had a measly 22 and 31 with the bat.
However, on 30 July, two days before the start of the Test at Edgbaston, Pandya won millions of hearts through his gesture of not wasting food.
After dinner, the all-rounder returned with his team-mates Ishant Sharma and KL Rahul to the team hotel - Hyatt Regency in Birmingham.
There, he asked the hotel staff to ensure that the packet of food that he brought with him would be given to someone in need. He mentioned that the food was untouched while dining.
The hotel staff were overjoyed at this humanitarian gesture and assured him that the food would be shared with someone in need.
This gesture has earned Pandya a lot of goodwill and reinstates faith in the gentleman's game and its role models!
