Adelaide: Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again caught the attention for advising current skipper Virat Kohli on the field. Dhoni thus proved his value once again as the adviser-in-chief of the Indian team.
Dhoni had led India in 200 ODIs from 2007-2018. Under him, India had won 110 one-dayers. The World Cup 2011 and Champions Trophy 2013 were the two biggest title wins for India in the 50-over format. The inimitable wicketkeeper-batsman had also led India to the World T20 crown in 2007.
Dhoni brings with a wealth of experience, which has proven to be a treasure trove for Kohli and Co time and again. Dhoni's guidance is visible the most during close umpiring calls, and his advice has often been given primacy by the captain before going for DRS reviews.
Dhoni may not be the swashbuckling batsman he used to be and is often seen to be getting stuck while batting, consuming too many deliveries for one's liking, but is still the steel frame of the Indian batting line-up that boasts of formidable stroke-makers like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and captain Kohli himself. There is still, however, no match for Dhoni's wicketkeeping skills.
Here's how Twitter users reacted to Dhoni advising Kohli:
