Nottingham: Virat Kohli has once again claimed the No 1 spot among Test batsmen in the ICC rankings after leading India to a 203-run victory over England in the third Test of the series at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Kohli scored 97 and 103 in the match.

The Indian skipper had reached the No 1 spot after the first Test, scoring 149 and 51 in the two innings. He dropped to the second place after a below par performance in the second Test at Lord's. India fared miserably in that match, losing by an innings and 159 runs. Australia's Steve Smith had claimed the top spot after India's Lord's defeat. Kohli reclaimed his spot after the third Test victory.

Cheteshwar Pujara is the second-highest-placed Indian in the list. He's placed at No 6.

Kohli's rating points stand at 937 and that places him just outside the top-ten highest rating points list. The top ten includes  Don Bradman (961 points), Steve Smith (947), Len Hutton (945), Jack Hobbs and Ricky Ponting (both on 942), Peter May (941), and Gary Sobers, Clyde Walcott, Vivian Richards and Kumar Sangakkara (all on 938 points).

Ajinkya Rahane has broken into the top-20 and is placed in the 19th position. Shikhar Dhawan is placed at 22nd and his opening partner KL Rahul has dropped to 26th.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has spoken highly of Kohli calling him the best player in the world right now.
