Harmanpreet Kaur had 'no idea degree was fake', after being pulled up by Punjab Police

India women's T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Arjuna awardee found herself in trouble when her graduation certificate was deemed to be fake by the Punjab government, which resulted in Kaur being withdrawn from her rank of deputy superintendent of police (DSP).

"

“I had no idea if the certificate was fake. According to me, it is genuine. I am with the department (Punjab Police); I will accept whatever decision they take," Kaur said in an exclusive chat with My Nation

"I don't know what reports are being carried in the media. I have not thought about any legal action till now. I am waiting for what is communicated to me in writing from the department. My family is with me and they are strongly behind me,” the India batswoman added.

Her degree turned out to be fake after the police department sent her degree for verification to the Meerut University. It was Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh himself who had offered Kaur a job in the Punjab Police in July 2017 after her performance in the Women’s World Cup last year, the highlight of which was a swashbuckling unbeaten 171 off 115 balls in the semi-final against Australia.
