Haryana: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat created history by being the first woman to win a gold medal in wrestling for India at the Asian Games.
When she returned home after her victory, neither the state government nor the administration gave her any special felicitations.
Phogat, however, said that she is happy with the respect and love that the society has showered her with. She said that she has struggled after her father’s death and her knee injury at the Rio Olympics and will only get married after she wins World Championships and the Olympics.
In honour of gold medallist Vinesh, a ceremony was organized by Sangwan Khap in Dadri's Rose Garden. Khap representatives congratulated Vineesh making Dadri proud.
Vinesh’s uncle Sajjan Balali and Sangwan Khap Secretary Narsingh accused the government and administrative officials of not coming to felicitate Vinesh. They said that no government representative was there at the Delhi airport when Vineesh returned home.
