Asian Games 2018: Shooters make nation proud on Day 3; Virdhawal Khade misses medal by 0.01 seconds

Saurabh Chaudhary, Abhishek Verma, Sanjeev Rajput and Divya Kakran won big on Day 3 of Asian Games 2018 

Day 3 for the Indian contingent at the ongoing Asian Games started on a bright note after the shooters won two golds and one silver. 

Sixteen-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary clinched gold, while Abhishek Verma bagged bronze in men's 10m air pistol shooting. Sanjeev Rajput won silver for India in the 50m rifle 3 position men's event.

India lost 0-2 to Thailand in the sepak takraw men's team regu semi-finals to bag bronze. This is India's first ever medal in the sport.

The Indian men and women's kabaddi teams entered the semi-finals after beating Thailand and Indonesia respectively.

Twenty-year-old Divya Kakran won bronze in 68kg women's freestyle wrestling. This is India's first wrestling bronze in this year's tournament. Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat had won gold in their respective wrestling categories.

Elsewhere, ace gymnast Dipa Karmakar qualified for the finals in balance beam.

India, however, lost quite a few opportunities to add to its medal tally on Tuesday.

Virdhawal Khade missed bronze by 0.01 seconds, finishing fourth in the men's 50m freestyle swimming final. 

In the archery recurve mixed team event, India finished eighth. 

In women's handball, India lost to North Korea 19-49.
