Asian Games 2018: Saina Nehwal settles for badminton bronze after losing to Tai Tzu Ying, PV Sindhu only Indian left

Saina's bronze is the first ever women's individual badminton medal in the Asian Games.

Jakarta: India's star shuttler Saina Nehwal settled for bronze after losing in the women's singles badminton semi-finals to World No.1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei at the Asian Games.

Saina, who gave a tough fight to Tai, went down 17-21, 14-21 on Monday. This leaves PV Sindhu as the only Indian in the women's singles badminton competition.

Tai Tzu Ying took only 17 minutes in the second set to beat Saina.

Saina's bronze is the first individual badminton medal for India in 36 years. It is also the first ever women's individual badminton medal at the Asian Games.

This is Saina's 10th straight defeat to Tai Tzu Ying.
