PV Sindhu, who is world number three, is the first-ever Indian woman to bag a badminton individual silver medal at Asian Games
Jakarta: India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu lost yet another final as she settled for silver in the badminton women’s singles at the ongoing Asian Games in Indonesia.
On Tuesday, at GBK Istora stadium, 23-year-old Sindhu went down to world number one Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei 13-21, 16-21.
The 24-year-old Ying dominated the match right from the start. She pocketed the opening game in just 16 minutes. From then on, it was tough for the Indian to make a comeback.

In the second game too, Ying maintained her grip over the gold medal contest. She raced to 15-10 lead and ensured that she went all the way to victory. Finally, she won 21-16 in 18 minutes to break millions of Indian hearts.

On Monday, Saina Nehwal had lost her semi-final to Ying to bag a bronze medal. Sindhu had a chance to avenge her compatriot’s defeat, but could not.
This is not the first time that Sindhu has failed to cross the final hurdle. Earlier this month, she lost the World Championships final to Spain’s Carolina Marin.
Last year too, she came second in the World Championships in Glasgow. In 2016 Rio Olympics, she was beaten in the gold medal match by Marin.
