Asian Games 2018: Lakshay Sheoran shoots silver in men's trap, Manavjit Sandhu narrowly misses medal

Palembang: Lakshay Sheoran gave India its second silver in shooting in the ongoing Asian Games as he finished second in the men’s trap event in Palembang on Monday.

Twenty-year-old Sheoran shot a total of 43 points to take silver while Taipei’s Kunpi Yang won the gold medal with 48 points at Jakabaring International Shooting Range in Palembang. South Korea's Daemyeong Ahn took bronze.

India’s Manavjit Singh Sandhu missed out on the podium as he finished fourth with 26 points. He had finished No 1 in the qualification round.

Sheoran, who took up shooting in 2014, gave India its third medal in shooting at the 2018 Asian Games.

Earlier, Deepak Kumar had won silver in 10m air rifle while the tally was opened with a bronze by Ravi Kumar and Apurvi Chandela in 10m rifle mixed team event on Sunday.

India’s medal tally is four at the moment with one gold (wrestling), two silvers and one bronze. China leads the table with 11 gold, five silver and five bronze.
