'My performance was affected by the cut I suffered in the first round. I was a bit disturbed and that I was not able to block him that much. If it wasn't for the cut, I would have beaten him 5-0 like I did in the past. Having said that, he is a good boxer,' Vikas said.
Jakarta: Indian boxers Vikas Krishan and Amit Panghal are assured of medals after they reached the semi-finals at the Asian Games 2018 here on Wednesday.
Vikas battled on despite a bleeding left eye and defeated China's Tuoheta Erbieke Tanglatihan 3-2 in the 75kg category for his third medal in a row at the Asiad. He had won gold in 2010 and bagged a bronze in 2014.
"My performance was affected by the cut I suffered in the first round. I was a bit disturbed and that I was not able to block him that much. If it wasn't for the cut, I would have beaten him 5-0 like I did in the past. Having said that, he is a good boxer," the Haryana boxer said.
In the men's 49kg quarter-finals, Amit got the better of Kim Jang Ryong of South Korea. It was a convincing 5-0 win for the 22-year-old.
"He was good boxer so it was not easy at all. I always rely on counter-punches and against him it paid off. In third round, he got tired and I also played a bit safe. It was all about keeping the lead after winning the first two rounds," Amit said.
In the women's section, India's Sarjubala Devi lost her last-eight bout in the 51kg section. China's Chang Yuan beat her 5-0.
Sarjubala's loss ended Indian women boxers' campaign in Indonesia. They failed to win a single medal.
