Bajrang Punia, Asian Games gold medallist, dedicates medal to Vajpayee

Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia tweeted that he dedicates his gold medal to the late prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee

New Delhi: Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia made the whole nation proud as he clinched a gold medal in the men’s 65 kg category at the Asian Games 2018. The wrestler then took to Twitter to announce that he dedicates his gold medal to the late prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Punia tweeted, “I dedicate my Asian Games gold medal to late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee”.

This is Punia’s second gold after his win at Incheon 2014 in the 61 kg category.

Last week India’s chef de mission for Asian Games 2018 Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had said that as a tribute to the beloved ex prime minister, all medals won by Indian athletes at the Asian Games would be dedicated to him as a mark of respect.

The legendary Vajpayee passed away on August 16 at New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
