The Motera stadium in Ahmedabad which is currently under construction is soon to be the world's largest stadium. The pictures of the stadium under construction were released for the first time in a tweet by Parimal Nathwani, vice-president of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA).
Nathwani said that the stadium will be larger than the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and that once the construction of GCA's dream stadium completes, it will become a matter of pride for the entire nation.
The “dream project", before being revamped, had hosted 23 ODIs till December 2011 along with other historic events in cricket, which includes former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar completing 10,000 runs in Test cricket.

In the year 1983, the stadium hosted its first Test between India and the Windies.
Australia’s MCG which was established in the year 1853, currently holds a seating capacity of 90,000 being the largest.
The Border-Gavaskar series was clinched by India for 2-1 recently in the Test match against Australia by 137 runs, which was hosted at the MCG.
