Crazy Mohan: Iconic playwright, actor of Tamil cinema breathes his last at 67

Veteran script writer of Tamil cinema, Crazy Mohan, suffered from cardiac arrest and died in a private hospital at 2 pm in Chennai

Chennai: 67-year-old Kollywood's renowned scriptwriter, Crazy Mohan, on Monday (June 10)  breathed his last in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The veteran playwright suffered from cardiac arrest and died at Kauvery Hospital.

Mohan was pronounced dead at 2 pm after efforts to revive him did not succeed.

Mohan Rangachari was well-known as Crazy Mohan because of his successful play called 'Crazy Thieves In Paalavakkam'. Though he studied mechanical engineering, his passion led to the creation of a drama troupe named 'Crazy Creations'. Mohan wrote famous comedy plays, such as Chocolate Krishna, Maadhu +2 and Madhil Mel Maadhu.

Crazy Mohan is known for his collaborations with noted actor Kamal Haasan. He has scripted several blockbuster films like Avvai Shanmugi (Chachi 420 in Hindi) and Michael Madana Kamarajan starring Kamal Haasan. He has also worked with Rajinikanth in the movie Arunachalam, which was released in 1997.

Crazy Mohan was a recipient of Tamil Nadu state government's Kalaimamani Award for his excellence in the field of arts and literature.
