Lucknow: Ghaziabad district administration has poured cold water on Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s plans to visit Dudeshwaranath temple by not approving the itinerary given by the Congress media cell.

Priyanka was expected to visit the Dudeshwaranath temple with party candidate from Ghaziabad Dolly Sharma and then pay tribute at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh statue near Ghantaghar. Moreover, she was also expected to go for a roadshow before interacting with the public at Ambedkar Park.

Priyanka’s Z+ security arrangements did not permit her entry into the Dudeshwaranath temple. However, the Congress tried to make an issue out of an administrative constraint.

Priyanka’s temple visits just before the Lok Sabha elections is being seen as an attempt to appease Hindu voters across the country.

Last month Priyanka offered prayers at the Hanuman Garhi temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya. The temple visit marked the end of the Congress general secretary’s 50-km road show from Kumar Ganj.

However, she avoided going to the makeshift Ram Lalla shrine at the site of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case.
