PM Modi said that the Congress has no faith in democracy and judiciary and is touching new low in politics by forgetting all form of political culture

Alwar: In a major attack on the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the Rahul Gandhi-led party has started a dangerous game of threatening Supreme Court judges with impeachment if they did not prepare a timetable of cases according to their political intention.

PM Modi was addressing an election rally in Alwar in the poll-bound Rajasthan.

Referring to the hearing of the Ayodhya case in the Supreme Court, Modi, without naming anyone, said that some Congress members attempted to get the hearing postponed till 2019 because of general elections. However, when the party failed to stall this process, their Rajya Sabha members started intimidating the judges.

“This is a dangerous game. Congress has no faith in the judiciary. They are trying to scare judges on the ground of their numbers in Rajya Sabha. But we will not let this ‘Kaala Kaarnama’ happen in the temple of democracy. I would like to tell the judges not to be afraid of the Congress and keep going on the path of justice,” he said.

PM Modi said that the Congress is touching a new low in politics by forgetting all form of political culture.

“Since the party has no faith in democracy, it does not hold dialogues and stalls proceedings in parliament. However, the new game they are playing now is dangerous and this must be debated for a brighter future of the country,” he said.

The Prime Minister, reacting to former union minister CP Joshi’s recent statement about his caste, said, "When they [Congress] have nothing to say on the account of works done by their former governments, they ask about the caste of Modi. Will you vote on the basis of the caste of Modi? Will the future of Rajasthan be decided on basis of the birthplace of Modi?”

Joshi is the Congress candidate from Nathdwara constituency.

“They [Congress] are buried up to their neck in casteism. Hatred against the poor, deprived and underprivileged is in their veins and such statements reflect the basic behaviour and conduct of the Congress party. It does not matter who spoke the words because all know about the ‘Naamdaar’ who make them speak.

“I do not care if any Congress leader asks about my caste or abuses my mother,” the Prime Minister added.

Modi also criticised the Congress over the issues of the Dalits. He said that atrocities against Dalits took place wherever the party got a chance to rule. “Everyone knows their conduct towards Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. They did not even confer him a Bharat Ratna,” he pointed out.

PM Modi said that every time the BJP tried to unite India, Congress had always broken it. “Congress has just divided the country. For them, Dalits are just vote bank, while our values and traditions are different,” he added.

Modi praised chief minister Vasundhara Raje and her government by saying that they have done a lot of work and the party should retain power in the state.

The Prime Minister also said that for Congress, Sonia Gandhi is bigger than the country, but for BJP, nothing is greater than Bharat Mata.

Modi was referring to a recent video where Congress candidate BD Kalla was seen stopping a supporter from shouting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and asking him to shout ‘Sonia Gandhi ki Jai’.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, candidates from all 11 constituencies of Alwar and other leaders were present at the meeting.

Modi’s visit is seen as a move by the BJP to strengthen its position in Alwar, where the party had faced defeat in Lok Sabha by-polls held earlier this year.

Rajasthan is scheduled to go for elections on December 7.

PM Modi will be holding two rallies in Madhya Pradesh later in the day.
