YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy begins poll campaign in Andhra Pradesh; promises to deliver corruption-free governance

YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy began his party's polling campaign on Monday and promised people that he would deliver corruption-free governance

Kakinada: With a day after the Election Commission (EC) announced the polling schedule, Andhra Pradesh's YSR Congress Party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday flagged off the party’s polling campaign and urged people to give him a chance.

Jagan, while addressing the gathering in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district, promised to deliver corruption-free governance.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly and the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled for the same day which will be held on April 11. Jaganmohan Reddy's party has decided to contest in all 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha constituencies.

While addressing the gathering, Jagan expressed gladness over the fact that YSRCP would complete nine years on Tuesday and remarked that the journey was tough for party leaders and cadres as the parties in the power subjected them to severe difficulties.

The Leader of the Opposition also said that it was time for people teach the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) a lesson, as they have failed to fulfil the promises made in previous elections. Jagan also alleged that the TDP has harmed the interests of the State. "It was only near the elections that Chandrababu Naidu remembered people," he said.

According to reports, Jagan alleged that the TDP compromised on the interests of people in granting special status to Andhra Pradesh, a promise that was made during the State bifurcation. Nonetheless, Jagan said that the TDP government was neck-deep in corruption and requested voters for a "silent burial” of the TDP.

Jagan also promised that his party would be different from the ruling party as it would ensure that the fruits of development and all the welfare schemes reach the targeted sections of the society without any qualms.
