After actors, bureaucrats now express interest to enter active politics. Former Karnataka chief secretary Rathna Prabha said that her followers from Kolar, Kalaburagi and other places have asked her to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. Will BJP approach her?

Bengaluru: Former chief secretary of Karnataka Rathna Prabha has now expressed her desire to contest the Lok Sabha election. After retiring last year, she said she wants to serve the public by donning the MP hat. Will she contest on a BJP ticket. Rathna Prabha said that she does expect a call from the party president in Karnataka, BS Yeddyurappa.

Speaking to MyNation, Rathna Prabha said that she has been getting calls from her followers in Kolar, Kalaburagi and other places, requesting her to take part in active politics by contesting the Lok Sabha polls.

"Recently, BSP leaders approached me and I did not commit to them, but the next day it was all over media. And now, there are reports linking me to the BJP. Let Yeddyurappa approach me, or you could check with him," she said.

There is a dearth of women officers serving in political parties after retirement. And this 1981 batch IAS officer, who is a Dalit and a native of Andhra Pradesh, can help inspire others by setting foot into the election battle.

BJP leader and former MLA Y Sampangi said, "I have not heard about her name and do not know her. However, if the party leaders agreed to her candidacy, we will work and ensure her victory."

‘Invest Karnataka summit’ in 2016 was conducted by Rathna Prabha, and she always spearheaded any movement that encouraged women entrepreneurship. This retired officer also won the ‘Woman of the Year’ award from the American Biographical Institute Inc., US.

That's not all. While addressing the all-India deputy commissioners' conference in New Delhi last year, PM Modi hailed Rathna Prabha as a role model to other officers recollecting how she had helped a shepherd get admission into a school 27 years ago.
