Bengaluru: While the Congress party cries hoarse that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted Congressmen that are dead (read Rajiv Gandhi), some of its senior ministers continue to mock and mortify Modi.

One such instance came to light on Sunday (May 12) during the campaigning for Chincholi Assembly by-poll in Karnataka. Senior Congressman and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah called Modi a “liar” and even went to the extent of saying Narendra Modi is synonymous with the word “liar”.

Siddaramaiah also went on to say that it is the Congress party that won India her independence and the BJP had nothing to do with it. He added that many Congressmen were jailed during the freedom struggle, but when it comes to the BJP, they were jailed on the charges of corruption.

“They have kept abusing him several times. They have used several calumnies against him. People have already noticed his (Siddaramaiah) failures as an administrator. The numbers have plummeted to 78. This shows his desperation. Even Mayawati is resorting to the same tactic. The heat of Assembly elections is hitting the Congress badly. That is making them get into this kind of language.  This also points at the fact that Mallikarjuna Kharge is losing the elections,” said Shreenath Sheshadri, a BJP spokesperson.
