Before heading to New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a brief stop in Andhra Pradesh to seek blessings of Lord Venkateshwara and also addressed a massive gathering organised by BJP leaders in the state
Tirupati: Minutes after his visit to Sri Lanka post the deadly Easter Sunday attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped by in Andhra Pradesh and paid a visit to Venkateshwara temple in Tirupati before heading to Delhi.
Andhra Pradesh governor ESL Narasimhan, chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, Union minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy and others received the prime minister at Tirupati Airport at Renigunta. The Prime Minister was returning from Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Prime Minister later addressed a gathering at a thanksgiving meeting organised by the BJP in Electronics Park in Renigunta.
During his address, PM Modi assured the gathering that he would lend his support to the newly elected chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy and said that the BJP government would continue to work for Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
PM Modi further said that BJP leaders and party workers are not election machinery and would not serve people only during elections. He also assured the people of Andhra Pradesh that his party (BJP) are with the people of the country in their joys and sorrows and said that the BJP is committed to “guiding the nation to the brighter side.”
The Prime Minister concluded his speech by motivating the people of Andhra Pradesh of take the step forward in bringing the nation ahead. He said, "If 130 crore people together take a step forward, India would be 130 crore steps forward."
He also said that he is grateful to the people of Andhra Pradesh for welcoming him wholeheartedly and said that he would receive blessings from Lord Venkateshwara before leaving to Delhi.
PM Modi will proceed to Tirumala Hills later in the evening and worship Lord Venkateshwara. He is scheduled to depart to New Delhi at 8:15 pm.
