Sources from the Congress say that Siddaramaiah is visibly upset with the people of Bagalkote for voting his party out in the recently-contested Lok Sabha election in Karnataka. Parched people of Badami wrote several letters to Siddaramaiah, but received no response.
Bagalkote: "Siddaramaiah has only one thing in his mind. He just wants to become chief minister again. Why would he care about people to check whether they are alive or dead? Elections are anyway over," said Ramesh Beelagi, a resident from Badami from Bagalkot district in Karnataka from where Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Siddaramaiah contested the Assembly election last year.
For the past four months, people in Bagalkot are witnessing severe drought as there is no water for people to feed on while several lakes are bone dry. Several people from north Karnataka have written letters addressing Siddaramaiah and Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy regarding the ongoing water scarcity, but the people have not received any response from the coalition government.

Speaking to MyNation, BJP leader Ashwathnarayan said, "As I know Siddaramaiah, he is not a serious politician. He takes things for granted and says that whether people vote for him or not, he could still have a stronghold in politics. He is in that mindset. This was also a reason for him to suffer massive failure in Mysuru too where he contested the Assembly election and lost. For Siddaramaiah, Badami is just a vote bank, and after the elections, he does not want to think about the people who are staying there. If people from Badami still believe in him, it will be difficult for them in later days."
People from Badami began to talk about their problems after Karnataka BJP president visited the drought-hit region and spoke on chalking out a solution to quench their thirst.
Parched people of Badami wrote letters to Siddaramaiah to take the initiative to fill the lakes claiming that even domestic animals are losing their lives while hankering for every drop of water.
It is time for the ruling Congress-JD(S) led coalition government to respond to people and help them have a better life than claiming that the government would be successful in completing its five-year term in the state.
